Hannah Kasulka’s Casey Rance to Return in ‘The Exorcist’ Season 2

Although fans of Fox’s The Exorcist were thrilled to learn that the series had been renewed for Season Two so late in the game, many were disappointed that the show would no longer feature the fan-favorite characters of the Rance Family of Season One. Geena Davis’ Angela, Hannah Kasulka’s Casey, Brianne Howey’s Kat, and Alan Ruck’s Henry had a lot to do with the excellent character-driven storytelling of the first season, and Season Two simply hasn’t been the same without them. Fortunately, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel! read more

Season Two of The Exorcist may have just premiered on Fox this week, but series creator Jeremy Slater and showrunner Sean Crouch are already thinking about the future of the series! They recently sat down with Digital Spy to discuss the show, and they had a lot to say about the future of the franchise. It turns out they are planning for as many as seven seasons, and they know exactly where they want to head for Season Three.

We already knew that Season Two would feature a new supernatural occurrence which is completely separate from what happened to the Rance family in Season One. ‘The Exorcist’ Season 2 Episode 1 Review & Analysis

I was not a big fan of last year’s pilot episode of Fox’s The Exorcist. I found it to be a little too over the top with its introduction of themes, too rushed in its pacing, and too direct in its over-reliance on CGI. However, as Season One unfolded, the series ended up proving itself to be one of the best horror shows on television. Episode by episode, The Exorcist became a slow crawling character study which was reserved in its delivery while packing a hard punch whenever it was needed to further the story. It was nuanced, it was thought-provoking, and it was engaging. read more

Fox’s ‘The Exorcist’ Gets Release Date and New Executive Producer for Season 2

After narrowly escaping cancellation, Fox’s stellar The Exorcist television series is finally entering production on Season Two! We’ve already learned that there will be a major shakeup in the cast next season (No Geena Davis; no Rance family), and now we have a better idea of who will be involved with the project and when it will air.

Fox has announced that The Exorcist Season Two will premiere on Friday, September 29th, 2017. The show also aired on Friday night last year, which likely contributed to its difficulty in netting a higher viewership than the smaller, but very passionate, following it developed. Fox is doing the series no favors by keeping it on Fridays this season as well. On the other hand, last year’s gossip suggested that the show was able to get away for more visceral and questionable content because of it’s low profile time slot. So long as Fox continues to support the series based on on its creative merits rather than an unreasonable expectation for ratings despite the time that it airs, this could be a win-win for everyone. read more

Fox’s The Exorcist Renewed for Season Two

With Fox’s 2017 Upfronts just days away, the uncertain futures of a trio of horror television shows have been the source of speculation and uncertainty. On May 9th, Fox cancelled Sleepy Hollow after four seasons. The future of Scream Queens is still unknown. But today came arguably the most important confirmation for the 2017 season: The Exorcist has been renewed for Season Two!

While the show’s ratings have never been fantastic, it gained a strong following of dedicated viewers who found it to be one of the smartest horror shows on television. Fans and horror sites alike (including this one) mobilized fan campaigns to beg Fox for a renewal, but the network remained quiet about the future of the series for nearly five months. read more

Executive Producer of The Exorcist Shares Insight into Season One and Beyond

Variety recently sat down with Jeremy Slater, the creator and one of the executive producers of Fox’s The Exorcist series. Slater revealed many interesting details about the creative process of making the show and explained where the series will be going in the future.

Readers who have been following Horror News Network’s reviews know that the show is surprisingly intelligent and character-driven, especially for a TV-14 network show that airs at 9:00. While the pilot episode felt a little too reliant on the source material, the episodes that have followed have proven to be thoughtfully crafted and unafraid to explore ideas and storytelling techniques which go beyond the 1973 original movie. Based on Slater’s comments, these refreshing qualities were no accident: read more
