‘Stranger Things’ Announced as the First Maze for Universal Studio’s Halloween Horror Nights

Hot on the heels of Universal Studio’s announcement of the dates for 2018’s Halloween Horror Nights, the theme park empire announced today that the first maze would be dedicated to none other than Netflix’s Stranger Things.

Universal’s Patrick Braillard described some of the initial details of the maze (which will be featured on both coasts at Universal Studios Orlando and Universal Studios Hollywood) stating that it would recreate “…some of the show’s most iconic scenes, 80’s settings, and most loved characters (#RIPBarb).  You’ll faithfully follow the storyline, starting off on Mirkwood and then quickly moving to inside Hawkins National Laboratory where things have gone terribly, terribly wrong.  From there you will experience all the most memorable moments and environments from the show while being hunted at every turn by the Demogorgon.” read more

Universal Studios Orlando Announces Dates for Halloween Horror Nights 2018

Although it may seem a bit early, there is no time like the present to start thinking about Halloween!

Universal Studios Orlando just announced dates for their annual Halloween Horror Nights beginning on September 14 and running through November 3.

The full list of dates include:  September 14, 15, 16, 20, 21, 22, 23, 28, 29, 30, October 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 31, and November 1 , 2, 3.  Most of these 34 dates fall on a Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Sunday, or Saturday.  There are no Mondays or Tuesdays available. read more

Eli Roth Directs Commercial for Universal Studios’ Halloween Horror Nights

Director Eli Roth has filmed a number of horror films, but he’s never filmed a commercial about any of his, and certainly not one about films and television shows he hasn’t directed.

Universal Studios Orlando and Hollywood released a 30 second spot by Roth featuring a number of their horror houses from this year’s annual event.  Roth’s commercial features a veritable Halloween feast of classic scenes from the Shining, Saw, and American Horror Story.

Earlier this week, Universal Studios Orlando announced a “best-of” house called “The Horrors of Blumhouse” which will feature a triple threat of Blumhouse studio hits including: The Purge, Insidious, and Sinister. read more

Universal Orlando Announces Scare Zones for Halloween Horror Nights 2017 Including ‘Trick ‘r Treat’ and ‘The Purge’

Universal Studios Orlando have revealed the final “scare zones” for their 2017 version of Halloween Horror Nights including areas based on Trick ‘r Treat and The Purge.  

Universal Orlando’s Blake Braswell described his excitement about the Trick ‘r Treat scare zone, saying that “As a longtime fan of classic horror anthology films, Trick ‘r Treat is a favorite of mine that pays perfect homage to that genre. In this zone, you’ll have the opportunity to come face-to-face with several characters from the film, and learn for yourself what happens when you don’t follow the rules (of Halloween).” read more

Universal Orlando Announces ‘Saw: The Games of Jigsaw’ House for Halloween Horror Nights 2017

Universal Theme Parks announced today that the Saw franchise would be turned into a maze of terror at the annual Halloween Horror Nights Event at Universal Studios Orlando and Universal Studios Hollywood.

John Murdy, Creative Director at Universal Studios Hollywood and Executive Producer of Halloween Horror Nights said that “SAW is one of the top grossing horror film franchises, and we’re thrilled that the fan-favorite is making its return to ‘Halloween Horror Nights. ‘SAW: The Games of Jigsaw’ will encompass the greatest collection of traps featured in all eight SAW movies to bring to life the most twisted SAW maze ever produced, and we can’t wait for our fans to relive moments from the films.” read more

Universal Orlando Announces ‘Ash vs Evil Dead’ House for Halloween Horror Nights 2017

Universal Orlando announced today that Starz series Ash vs Evil Dead would get the Halloween Horror Nights treatment as a featured house for the 2017 event.

According to the official press release, it appears that the creators of the house have a good understanding of what makes the series popular as “The house will feature various locations from the first two seasons of Ash vs Evil Dead and lots of blood. And for those “in the know,” the answer is yes…We’ll be going back to the cabin; with a few other surprises along the way.  This is our blood-soaked, milk-eyed, crass, rock n’ roll amped, chainsaw-wielding felt puppet, love-letter to everyone and everything connected to Ash vs Evil Dead. ” read more

Universal Orlando Announces House Based on the Shining for Annual Halloween Horror Nights

Universal Orlando announced via their official Halloween Horror Nights website that Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining will be getting “the haunted house (or to be more specific, hotel)” treatment at the theme park’s 27th annual Halloween scare fest.

Universal’s show director Charles Grey is naturally excited about landing the property, and stated that “There are so many intense and creepy moments packed in the whole film. So we held hands, took a deep breath, and entered the Overlook Hotel. I just finished looking at some of the house designs and am thrilled by the story we’re telling. It will be the warped psychological thriller you know and love with our own Halloween Horror Nights twist.” read more

American Horror Story House Announced for Universal Orlando’s Halloween Horror Nights

Universal Orlando announced via their official blog today that a house based on three different seasons of American Horror Story will be the first of many houses that will make-up Halloween Horror Nights 27.

Michael Aiello, Sr. Director of Entertainment Creative for Universal Orlando Resort stated that the AHS House “…will feature brand new content from Season 2: Asylum, Season 3: Coven and Season 6: Roanoke. And to really blow it out, we’re using our largest floor plan—aka our uber-maze—to bring to life the three incredibly detailed seasons.  American Horror Story has some of the most intricate and intimidating characters I’ve ever seen. We’ve worked hard to once again bring this unique anthology to life, recreating the series with every turn of this maze.” read more

Krampus Brings Holiday Cheer To Universal Orlando’s Halloween Horror Nights!

Universal Studio’s Orlando confirmed the rumored appearance of Krampus on their official blog yesterday, making horror fans wishes for an early visit from the Yuletide demon a reality.  A “scare house” based on the 2015 film by Michael Dougherty will be featured at Universal Studio’s annual Halloween Horror Nights.  Krampus joins the already announced houses featuring The Walking Dead, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, The Exorcist and John Carpenter’s  Halloween. HNN begin on Friday September 16th and run through Halloween on select days, with a heavier schedule as the calendar creeps towards “All Hallow’s Eve”. read more
