Universal Studios will always hold a special place in the heart of every horror fan due to their dedication to the original screen monsters Frankenstein, Dracula, The Wolfman, The Mummy, and a host of others. The original filming location for many of these classics took place on the grounds of the studio that is now more famous for the theme-park and tour it operates on a daily basis. The famed Los Angeles location has a long history, and not only in terms of the thousands of films produced there. Many have suggested that there might also be ghosts that inhabit the world-famous Universal Studios lot and theme park.
Back in October we bought you news and the teaser trailer for Winchester: The House that Ghosts Built (see that story here) starring Helen Miren as Sarah Winchester. Well now, a month before its theatrical release, comes the full trailer and word that they’ve shortened the title to just Winchester. Makes sense…rolls off the tongue a bit easier, I suppose.
Slated for a February 2nd release, Winchester tells the story (based on factual events) of the famed “Winchester Mystery House” and its construction by widow Sarah Winchester of Winchester Firearms fame. read more
David Liebe Hart first rose to a special kind of fame throughout his beloved appearances on Adult Swim’s Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job! and Check It Out! with Dr. Steve Brule. Whether it be his unique puppetry, his interesting musical performances, or his vivid storytelling, fans of his various appearances always have a specific segment or two they can point to and exclaim their love. Hart can most recently be seen on Awesome Show‘s 10 year anniversary special, and he has taken to the road for an all-new tour in support of his new Space Ranger album. HNN staff member Nick Banks and I sat down with David during the New Haven stop of his tour to conduct an interview on his recent works and to delve deeper into the supernatural topics we first discussed with him last December (You can check that out by clicking this link). What began as a simple interview quickly turned into a trek across New Haven in search of train tracks, churches and tacos. What follows is my account of that odyssey. read more
Do you enjoy working with children? Would you like to earn £50,000 per year with vacation day benefits, including your own suite with a private kitchen and bathroom? According to The Telegraph, a family living in the Scottish Borders is ready to hire you for your dream job! But there’s a small catch…
It’s haunted! And it doesn’t have a particularly good track record with nannies. As the family tells it in the job listing:
“We have lived in our home for nearly 10 years. We were told it was ‘haunted’ when we bought it, but kept our minds open and decided to buy the house regardless. 5 nannies have left the role in the last year, each citing supernatural incidents as the reason, including strange noises, broken glass and furniture moving. This has obviously been a period of great upheaval for our children. We haven’t personally experienced any supernatural happenings, as they have been reported only while we’ve been out of the house, but we’re happy to pay above the asking rate, and feel it’s important to be as up-front as possible to find the right person.” read more

David Liebe Hart, the unique entertainer who rose to stardom through his appearances on Cartoon Network’s Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job! and Check It Out! with Dr. Steve Brule, is a busy man. It’s no wonder that Hart is one of Tim Heidecker’s and Eric Wareheim’s go-to guys: He is known for his quirky and unusual bits on both shows which explore puppets, aliens, ghosts, and positive messages for children… all through song and choreographed skits. Although he is not always a polished performer, fans are attracted to the raw nature of his delivery and his earnestness. On Awesome Show, David sings about anything from “the importance of staying in school and saying focused,” to how to greet an alien. On Check It Out!, David plays a more exaggerated version of himself who often helps Dr. Brule (John C. Reilly) to have a greater understanding of the supernatural and extraterrestrial world through the use of puppets and songs. read more
