As traditional television service becomes more and more a thing of the past, networks are looking for new ways to measure the success and profitability of their shows. Under Nielsen’s “Live + 3 Day” TV ratings metric (live ratings plus delayed viewership on various on-demand and streaming platforms in the three days since the live airing of an episode), the premiere episode of Tom Hardy’s Taboo has earned an incredible 101 percent increase in viewers age 18-49. The FX original series, which was created by Tom Hardy and his father Chips, first aired on January 10th. On the 10th, the program was viewed by 2.2 million viewers, but the number swelled to 3.43 million by the end of the 72 hour window.
Just when you thought it was safe to turn on FX again…American Horror Story returns for another three seasons! Earlier in the fall, HNN announced that the long running series would return for a 7th season, but the Hollywood Reporter revealed that FX has added an additional two seasons, essentially extending the series for three more installments.
FX made the announcment at the annual Television Critics Association’s winter press tour. FX CEO John Landgraf engaged in some typical hyperbole stating that, “American Horror Story launched the modern limited series revolution and — as evidenced by the most recent installment, Roanoke — it remains as vital today as when Murder House stunned audiences six years ago. Each new chapter is a cultural event, beloved for every new twist in imagery, style, cast and plot. We are thrilled that Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and the entire creative team will continue to deliver the groundbreaking, celebrated American Horror Story for years to come.” read more
American Horror Story Season 7 could be returning to airwaves sooner than ever before. It currently looks like the season will be airing on FX as early as Spring, 2017.
It all began with a brief clip that was recently posted to the show’s official Twitter page:

Devoted fans and conspiracy theorists alike took to Reddit and the IMDb message boards to discuss the significance of this minimal clip. The ocean, the “sweet dreams,” and the fact that the clip is exactly seven seconds long is leading some fans to believe that the seventh season could feature some kind of nautical theme. Some fans have linked the clip to a lingering shot of a small boat in the last episode of Season Six, and that has them convinced more than ever that American Horror Story will take to the high seas this Spring. Some fans have gone as far as to wonder if H.P. Lovecraft’s Cthulhu could be making an appearance. read more
Earlier today FX announced that its top rated and Emmy Award winning series, American Horror Story will be back for a seventh season. The brain child of creators Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk, the show has reinvented itself each time out for the last six seasons.
This current season, which focuses on a couple who have recently relocated to Roanoke Island in North Carolina, feels grittier and creepier than the previous incarnations. FX’s John Landgraf told Deadline, “Ryan, Brad and their team of remarkable writers have done an amazing job of keeping American Horror Story endlessly inventive, shocking and entertaining and we are honored to move ahead with them on the seventh installment.” Hardcore fans of American Horror Story will debate for hours which season is the best. With the exit of the legendary Jessica Lange after Season 4’s Freakshow, many felt the show would falter. However, with 15 Emmy wins, including nods to Sarah Paulson, who manages to be American Horror Story’s secret weapon and an absolute chameleon each season, the show is not going anywhere anytime soon. read more
