HNN’s Coverage of The 2018 New York Toy Fair

This weekend, the Jacob Javits Center in New York City played host to the cultural phenomenon known as Toy Fair 2018.  For four glorious days, national and international toy producers, re-sellers and developers converged on the West Side of Manhattan to display their current products and provide a glimpse of what the future holds for their catalogs as well.

Horror continues to play an integral part in the toy market, and Horror News Network was there to cover all of the excitement and wonderfully-gory products that both casual and hardcore collectors (and their kids!) can expect throughout 2018 and even into next year.  Staff Journalists Larry Dwyer and Sean McLaughlin made the trek ready to report, and thanks to an assist by our friends at Action Figure Collectors ( we were able to provide thorough coverage of all announcements and news relevant to the horror masses. read more

Teaser Trailer Released for ‘FredHeads’ Freddy Krueger Documentary

Freddy Kruger will soon be the subject of a documentary detailing his rabid fanbase. Featuring interviews with fans and performers alike, the film will explore Freddy’s vast popularity which spans 24 years to date. The documentary is directed by Paige Troxell, who directed an independent short fan film which takes place within the Nightmare universe called Don’t Fall Asleep in 2016. In the trailer for FredHeads, we see clips of interviews with Nightmare fan favorites such as Danny Hassel and Tuesday Knight playing over blaring retro-style background music. ‘IT’ Came Close to Featuring Freddy: Muschietti

For those that have seen the blockbuster IT (and is there anyone who hasn’t yet?), it can be confirmed that the terror factor is off the charts.  However, with the retro 80s backdrop how cool would it have been to see horror movie icon Freddy Krueger pop in on the action?  That fantasy scenario for horror movie aficionados was apparently a lot closer to coming true than anyone knew.  IT director Andy Muschietti was recently interviewed by Aint-It-Cool-News, and revealed that Freddy terrorizing Derry was definitely an idea being bounced around in pre-production. read more

Englund to Portray Freddy One More Time in New Documentary

It looks like Robert Englund is not quite done haunting our dreams.  Entertainment Weekly reports that Mr. Englund will don the burnt-flesh makeup once again to portray the iconic Freddy Krueger horror role.  Englund had portrayed the nightmare slasher in the original classic film A Nightmare on Elm Street as well as the seven sequels that are part of the original franchise’s timeline.  He also portrayed the character for the “Freddy’s Nightmares” television show, which ran for three seasons in the late 1980s.  Despite hinting over the years that his time as Freddy was done, the actor will be the focus of a new documentary entitled Nightmares in the Makeup Chair, directed by Mike Kerz. read more
