Hollywood info-tainment website Deadline is reporting that director Breck Eisner (The Crazies, The Last Witch Hunter) is currently in talks with Paramount Pictures to lead the feature-picture reboot of Friday the 13th. The latest remake of the iconic horror film is scheduled to be released sometime in 2017.
Paramount is hoping to rekindle some of the recent success they’ve had reviving beloved, nostalgic film franchises, having brought Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles back to prominence in 2014. Eisner, the son of former Paramount head and Disney CEO Michael Eisner, will now take his stab at resurrecting one of the most popular film franchises and iconic killers in movie history, Jason Voorhees. A previous remake, 2009’s Friday the 13th, was co-released by Paramount and New Line Cinema, with Michael Bay’s Platinum Dunes producing the film. Platinum Dunes (along with Brad Fuller and Andrew Form) will also be producing the new adaptation, according to Deadline.
