Rights for “Hostage to the Devil” Acquired by Penchant Entertainment

When I was a teenager I went through a period where all I wanted to read about were serial killers and demons. Surprising, right? Well, during my trips to various bookstores to relieve them of their wares, one of the books that caught my attention was Father Malachi Martin’s Hostage to the Devil: The Possession and Exorcism of Five Contemporary Americans. Besides having a killer title, the author was a priest named Malachi! As a Stephen King-loving horror nut, I figured that this book was made for me. read more

“The Devil’s Candy” Review

When a movie starts out with Metallica’s version of Am I Evil? playing during the credits, you can bet that I’m going to give it a shot. When the next scene features a guy getting up from his bed in the middle of the night to plug in his red flying V so he can chug some open E with his Marshall amp cranked all the way up, you can bet that I’m super-interested. However, it’s not until his mom comes in to shut that shit down and he responds by smashing her over the head with that guitar and sending her tumbling down the stairs that you can bet your sweet patootie I am 100% sold! read more

Outcast’s Madeline McGraw to Get Expanded Role

Deadline is reporting that Madeline McGraw, who played Ambers Barnes in Season 1 of Robert Kirkman’s Outcast, will not only return for Season 2 but in a much larger role.

Amber Barnes, the daughter of series lead Kyle Barnes, was seen in a smaller, recurring role throughout the first season; it wasn’t until the season finale that it was revealed just how important to the story she may become.

Outcast, which marks the third television series for Robert Kirkman (The Walking Dead & Fear the Walking Dead) follows the journey of Kyle Barnes, a man who has been plagued by demonic possession his whole life. While trying to find answers to his dilemma he uncovers something far worse. read more

THE CONJURING 2 – Review

The Conjuring 2 – Review

By Lynn Sorel

Rating: 8 out of 10

Synopsis: Lorraine and Ed Warren travel to north London to help a single mother raising four children alone in a house plagued by malicious spirits.

Our thoughts: James Wan has done what few directors are able to do with his sequel to The Conjuring. He made a better film with a more complex story and a more terrifying villain.

Much like the last film, The Conjuring 2 begins with a flash back to another Warrens case file. We start with the famous Amityville case, after which Lorraine said she no longer wanted to take on cases. The story then cuts to a a family, whose little girl named Janet who becomes the target of a malevolent spirit. read more
