‘Day of the Dead’ Star Joe Pilato Passes Away at 70

Sad news in the world of horror as we have learned that Joe Pilato reportedly passed away in his sleep on Sunday at the age of 70.

Pilato, who is best known for his role as the boisterous Captain Rhodes in George Romero‘s 1985 classic Day of the Dead was a beloved figure in the world of horror. The actor appeared at attend many horror conventions and enjoyed interacting with attendees and would often discuss his role as the evil Rhodes. Some would even consider Rhodes to be one of Romero’s scariest creations of all time. read more

Direct Night of the Living Dead Sequel to Come from Original Creative Team

Fifty years ago the world of horror and cinema as a whole was changed forever with the release of Night of the Living Dead. Now a direct sequel is in the works from the creative team who brought the un-dead to life.

According to a recent interview, original NotLD scribes, the late George A. Romero and John A. Russo wrote a direct sequel to the 1968 original which has now been unearthed by Living Dead Media, an entertainment web site dedicated to the series.

The script, after having not been produced for many years, is being planned to release theaters next year with the original surviving writers and producers at the helm. read more
