Direct Night of the Living Dead Sequel to Come from Original Creative Team

Fifty years ago the world of horror and cinema as a whole was changed forever with the release of Night of the Living Dead. Now a direct sequel is in the works from the creative team who brought the un-dead to life.

According to a recent interview, original NotLD scribes, the late George A. Romero and John A. Russo wrote a direct sequel to the 1968 original which has now been unearthed by Living Dead Media, an entertainment web site dedicated to the series.

The script, after having not been produced for many years, is being planned to release theaters next year with the original surviving writers and producers at the helm. read more

George Romero’s Wife Has Nearly 50 Unseen Scripts Penned by the Late Master of Horror

George Romero- the prolific writer/director behind such classics as Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead, and Creepshow– may have passed away in 2017… but that doesn’t mean he isn’t finished scaring us! His wife, Suzanne Desrocher-Romero, says she is in possession of a ton of unseen material that he’s written, and she’s making it her mission to bring it to the fervent fans of her late husband.

Mezco Toyz Displays Massive Collection of Upcoming Horror Toys at New York Comic Con

Rest in Peace: George A. Romero Dead at 77

It is with heavy hearts that the Horror News Network team reports that legendary director/writer/producer George A. Romero has passed away at the age of 77. Romero transformed the horror landscape with such indelible classic films as Night of the Living DeadDawn of the DeadCreepshow, and numerous others. This visionary artist literally invented the modern zombie story, and later works such as Resident Evil and The Walking Dead wouldn’t exist without his contributions to cinema.

Dawn of the Dead’s Ken Foree Announced for CT HorrorFest 2017

The co-founder of CT HorrorFest, Rob Caprilozzi, announced this week that actor Ken Foree will be appearing at this year’s convention.

Caprilozzi stated that, “Ken Foree is a horror movie icon. In his 40 year career, no matter what film he is in, he always manages to stand out.”

Foree is best know to horror fans as Peter from George Romero’s Dawn of the Dead (and what most fans don’t know is that he also worked with Romero on his Medieval motorcycle cult film Knightriders as well).  Foree also starred in Stuart Gordon’s H.P. Lovecraft adaptation From Beyond, playing Bubba Brownlee, a favorite of hard core horror fans of the 1980’s. read more

Restored Version Of Dawn of the Dead To Be Shown at Venice Film Festival

According to Screen Daily, a restored version of George A. Romero’s Dawn of the Dead will premiere at the Venice Film Festival, which runs from August 31st to September 10th.  The critically-acclaimed horror cult classic, originally released in 1978, was Romero’s second entry into his often-imitated series of innovative zombie films (along with Night of the Living Dead, Day of the Dead, Land of the Dead, Diary of the Dead and Survival of the Dead).

The new version of Dawn will be shown at a midnight screening on September 2nd in high definition 4K, a meticulous remaster that also brought the Phantasm film franchise back to life recently in July. read more

Horror Hunting! Edition #13

Welcome to the latest edition of Horror Hunting!  October means two BIG things to horror fiends…..Halloween and (since 2010) zombies.  In case you haven’t heard (i.e. you don’t own a television, smart phone, computer with internet access or eyes/ears), the horror TV/comic juggernaut The Walking Dead returns to AMC this Sunday 10/14 for the beginning of its glorious fifth season of undead happenings and hijinks.  As a big fan, I am (predictably) adding a steaming pile of zombie spice to this installment of HH! with two tasty items that even the most hardcore Romero vs. Kirkman know-it-all would be psyched to own.  Whether you call them walkers, biters, lurkers, ghouls, stinkers or “things”, the undead occupy a large swath of real estate in the horror realm.  Check out these cool items while you can, because just like life (and un-death), time is indeed limited.  And of course, brace yourself…..the collectables these collectables kill get up and kill! read more
