Holidays – Review
By Lynn Sorel
Rating: 7 out of 10
Synopsis: HOLIDAYS is an anthology feature film that puts a uniquely dark and original spin on some of the most iconic and beloved holidays of all time. The film challenges our folklore, traditions and assumptions, making HOLIDAYS a celebration of the horror on those same special days’ year after year. A collaboration of some of Hollywood’s most distinct voices, the directors include Kevin Smith (Tusk), Gary Shore (Dracula Untold), Scott Stewart (Dark Skies), Kevin Kolsch and Dennis Widmyer (Starry Eyes), Sarah Adina Smith (The Midnight Swim), Nicholas McCarthy (The Pact), Adam Egypt Mortimer (Some Kind of Hate), and Anthony Scott Burns (Darknet). read more
Prior to its Blu-ray and DVD release tomorrow, we have been sent a few clips from Krampus that you can check out now! The clips feature samples of the interviews and behind the scenes featurettes which you will receive in full if you purchase the film. More can be found on Universal’s official Youtube account.
With Krampus coming to Blu-ray next week, we thought it was a good time to re-post our review of the film and review the Blu-ray.

This week, as we indulge in suicidal shopping trips to the mall and excessive viewings of Scrooged and Christmas Vacation, let’s not forget about the horror element that’s so prevalent throughout the holiday season. In this edition we’ll take a look at a couple of cool pieces of memorabilia tied to iconic Christmas horror movies, one for the premium crowd and another for the Tiny Tims of the family. While we patiently wait for the magic man in the red suit to squeeze down our chimneys, check out these potential gifts that any horror fan would love to find under their tree on Christmas morning….. read more

A Cat in the Brain LP (Mondotees.com)
Even if you aren’t as big of a horror soundtrack aficionado as HNN’s own Professor Bill, surely you can appreciate the “Limited Edition” tag on this cool piece. Italian horror master Lucio Fulci (one of my favorites for his ultra-gory take on the zombie genre) enlisted the help of Fabio Frizzi (who previously worked with him on The Beyond) to create the original score for A Cat in the Brain (1990). As any Fulci fan can attest, the soundtracks for his crazy, bloody, and ridiculously cool movies can leave as much of a lasting impression as the film itself. I can personally remember having the drum beat and piper march theme from City of the Living Dead being stuck in my head for several months at a time. Here, the folks at Mondo have released the soundtrack for A Cat in the Brain for the first time on vinyl, and with the ever-popular “Limited Edition” designation. It’s not known how many were originally made (or how many are left), but we do know that they are still available for only $25. Seriously….pick it up now before they’re all scooped up. read more
