New Teaser for ‘Nightbreed: The Ultimate Cabal Cut’ Released Online

Following the announcement of Nightbreed: The Ultimate Cabal Cut a few weeks ago, the updated version’s producers said it will run over three hours long and contain never-before-seen footage gathered from a variety of sources. Several images have been shared on the film’s official Twitter page and today a trailer has dropped!

Nightbreed follows Aaron Boone (Craig Sheffer), a troubled man who is haunted by terrifying nightmares of a subterranean city of monsters. He frequently visits a psychiatrist, Dr. Philip K. Decker (David Cronenberg), for help. What Boone doesn’t know is that Decker is really a masked serial killer. Decker frames Boone to take the blame for his murders and soon after Boone is killed by the police. He is brought back to life by the monsters of his dreams, known as the Nightbreed, who join Boone to stop Decker from killing again. read more

A New, Even Longer Cut of ‘Nightbreed’ is on the Way

Certain films have obsessive fans; I think it stems from an unfinished feeling that a fan is left with if they love a film but know it could have been better or if, god forbid, a beloved series is cancelled too soon (Twin Peaks, anyone?).  Clive Barker’s monster-filled Nightbreed has always fallen into the “what could have been” pile. The original finished product we were given back in 1990 never felt quite…finished. There were always rumblings about how unhappy Clive himself was with the finished product and there were whispers about a future directors cut which never seemed to materialize due to what was called “lost footage” – the studios told Clive that all remaining cut footage was gone; the 102 minute theatrical release was all that remained. read more

Clive Barker’s ‘Nightbreed’ Coming to SyFy as a TV Series

The word around Midian is that Clive Barker’s classic Nightbreed is being turned into a television series for the SyFy channel. Based on a report by Deadline, Clive Barker and his team at Seraphim Films are working with original Nightbreed producers Morgan Creek and writer Josh Stolberg (Jigsaw, Sorority Row, Piranha 3D) to put together a new script based on Barker’s 1988 classic book Cabal which later became the 1990 film Nightbreed.

“This story has been near to my heart for many years,” Barker said. “I’m at beyond thrilled that SyFy and UCP are taking this journey with us, and I cannot wait to see it brought to life on the screen.” From David Robinson at Morgan Creek, “The team at Morgan Creek is very excited to partner with Clive Barker, Syfy and Universal Cable Productions on Nightbreed for a unique, trenchant and no-holds-barred exploration of race relations in today’s society. As a sophisticated twist on the classic graphic novel form, Nightbreed pits ‘Humans’ against persecuted monsters, using metaphor and parable to take on bias and prejudice with real-world consequences.” read more
