‘Rampage’: The Horror News Network Review

Summer movie season 2018 is upon us, which means hours upon hours of bloated examples of filmmaking by committee- chock full of superhero spandex and market tested “edgy” PG-13 jokes that are sure to get the kids laughing- will soon be stinking up the local multiplex like a truck stop bathroom with no ceiling fan. Rampage kicks off the festivities early after jumping up two weeks on the calendar to avoid the wake of Disney’s guaranteed Tomatometer bonanza, Marvel Movie 19: Thanos is Finally Here! Fortunately, Rampage starts things off right by delivering a decent Dwayne Johnson monster mash that doesn’t take itself too seriously and reinforces the idea that video game adaptations don’t have to be terrible. read more

Trailer Released for Monster-Mash Video Game Movie ‘Rampage’

The trailer for Brad Peyton’s video game adaptation of Rampage was released today and promises all of the building smashing you remember from Bally’s coin-operated hit.

The film stars Dwayne Johnson, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Naomie Harris (Moonlight), Malin Akerman (The Watchmen), Jake Lacy (HBO’s Girls), and Joe Manganiello (True Blood).

In April, HNN reported on the plot details (as provided by SplashReport.com), stating that “Three canisters…crash land on Earth. One lands in the gorilla enclosure at the San Diego Zoo, the other in the plains of Wyoming and the last one in the Florida Everglades. The Griffin Technologies Group, headed by two siblings (Malin Akerman and Jake Lacy), tries to destroy any evidence of wrongdoing before the government finds out. It’s too late because the canisters have infected a gorilla named George, a wolf in Wyoming and an alligator. They start evolving and growing exponentially. To cover their track, the Griffin idiots decided to unleash a beacon that will make all three large animals head toward one destination: their head office located in the Willis Tower in Chicago.” read more

Director Brad Peyton Reveals Details About Monster Video Game Adaptation Rampage

Brad Peyton, the director of the upcoming film monster-mash video game adaptation Rampage, recently spoke to We Got This Covered about the tone of the film.

Peyton promises that the film, based on the original arcade game, is “…going to be a lot more emotional, a lot scarier and a lot more real than you’d expect.”  Peyton went on to say that he was “…really excited about Rampage. It’s a monster film, so the stuff that I did on Incarnate, stretching my muscles in the horror space helped. This “small, character piece” with horror in it trained me to get ready for [Rampage]. Obviously, it’s a much bigger movie and it’s meant for a broader audience, but there still horror elements, there’s still a monster movie at the core. And I get to work with Dwayne [Johnson] again, I’m so excited about it.”   read more
