Johannes Roberts Gives Update on ‘Resident Evil’ Reboot

During an interview with Screenrant, when asked about the current progress of Constantin Films’ upcoming Resident Evil reboot, director Johannes Roberts (47 Meters Down) said the project is still moving forward and is in active development.

He teased the film’s new story line will be much closer to its video game source material.

“We are in active development of that at the moment,” Roberts said. “I pitched them a take, and they really loved it. So, we are just gearing up on that as we speak, really. I’m in the office all the time there. So, yeah, it’s great. It’s gonna be super scary. It’s super, super scary. And it’s just getting back to the roots of the game. I think, at the moment, I’m not really allowed to say much more than that. But it’s gonna be a lot of fun.” read more

Streaming-Only Version of ‘Resident Evil 7’ to Appear on Nintendo Switch in Japan

After launching in January of 2017 to a positive critical and fan reception, Capcom’s Resident Evil 7 is finally coming to the Nintendo Switch! But there are a couple of catches…

Variety reports that the game will come to the Nintendo Switch on May 24th, but it won’t be available on physical media, you can’t buy a digital copy of it, it can’t be played without an internet connection, and it’s only available in Japan.

Entitled Resident Evil 7: Cloud Version, the game must be played by streaming it over a high-speed internet connection. Everyone can play the first 15 minutes for free, but after that the game must be “rented” for a 180 day period for 2,000 yen (approximately $17.99 in US dollars). The Switch version will include the complete game including all of the downloadable content which was originally available on other platforms. It will also include Joy-Con support and motion controls. read more
