By far the biggest news coming out of this panel was the surprise drop of the new voice of Chucky: none other than Mark Hamill! Some people may know him from a little movie called Star Wars and if you are going to replace an icon like Brad Dourif then getting another icon is the way to do it. The fans in attendance were both shocked and elated when at the end of the exclusive trailer following the …’and as the voice of Chucky’ frame, the trailer cut away to video of Hamill announcing himself as the new voice of the sinister doll. The next several minutes were spent hearing how the cast felt about working with him and there were a lot of expected jokes about working with Luke Skywalker. The crowd was into it and it was a bit hard to concentrate on the cast on stage as so many were talking about what they just saw on screen. This was a huge bomb dropped right on the WonderCon fans and they loved it.
To the delight of fans of smart sci-fi/horror everywhere, FX renewed their genre-bending cult favorite Legion for a second season. Now we have a teaser for season two (which debuts on April 3) and you may want to listen to the alluring Aubrey Plaza in this short clip.
Legion (based on the trippy New Mutants run by Chris Claremont and Bill Sienkiewicz) stars Dan Stevens as David Haller, a man who originally believed himself to be schizophrenic, but later discovered that he may actually be one of the most powerful mutants the world has ever seen. While it is based on the Marvel series from the 1980s, you really don’t need any backstory on the comic to enjoy this series, and the television program goes to places that no X-Men story has gone so far. read more
