‘New Mutants’ and ‘Antlers’ Moved Off Release Schedule

Similar to Paramount’s decision to shift A Quiet Place II to a later date in 2020, Disney followed suit by moving New Mutants, Antlers, and Mulan off of their scheduled release dates.  No new dates have been announced as of yet, but according to Deadline, Disney is “…looking at potential 2020 dates in regards to where the titles would be scheduled next.”

Although these concerns are explicitly related to Coronavirus fears, this will be the fourth time that New Mutants will shift to a new date.  Previously, the film was scheduled to screen on January 11, 2018, March 27, 2018, May 7, 2019, and March 12, 2020.   Antlers was originally scheduled to be released on April 17. read more

First Trailer for Scott Cooper and Guillermo del Toro’s ‘Antlers’ Released

The first trailer for director Scott Cooper and producer Guillermo del Toro’s upcoming film Antlers provides fans with just enough to whet their appetites in what appears to be a old-fashioned creature feature, infused with modern issues of neglect and bullying.

This is Cooper’s first foray into the horror genre, but the director is no stranger to high tension and drama in such films as the crime story Black Mass and 2017’s western, Hostiles.

The film’s screenplay was written by C. Henry Chaisson & Nick Antosca and Scott Cooper, and based on the short story “The Quiet Boy” by Antosca.  The cast includes Keri Russell, Jesse Plemons, JT Corbitt, Graham Greene, Scott Haze, Rory Cochrane, Amy Madigan read more

Three Join Cast of Fox Searchlight and Guillermo del Toro Project ‘Antlers’

Fox Searchlight is adding some serious thespian credibility to its latest horror-thriller project.  Deadline is reporting that the production studio has announced several actors are being brought in to the film Antlers, based upon the short story ‘The Quiet Boy’ by writer Nick Antosca (Hannibal.)  This is shaping up to be quite the intriguing project, the first with Fox in a deal with Guillermo del Toro, who will co-produce.

Graham Greene (The Green Mile), Amy Madigan (Gone Baby Gone) and Scott Haze (Midnight Special) have been tapped to join the cast of the Scott Cooper-helmed film.  They’ll join up with the already-announced Keri Russell and the very underrated Jesse Plemons for Antlers in yet-unknown roles.  Antosca and Henry Chaisson co-wrote the script, with del Toro and two others sharing producer credit.  The three veteran additions help to form an impressive stable for Fox Searchlight, which is looking to follow up on the success of last year’s Oscar winner for Best Picture The Shape of Water, also from del Toro. read more
