All-Female Directed Horror Anthology “XX” Releases Trailer

In a genre that was once helmed almost entirely by men, it is awesomely refreshing to see the amount of women making huge strides in horror. Jovanka Vuckovic is no stranger to the horror genre; she made her bones as Editor-In-Chief of Rue Morgue magazine and thrilled audiences and film festivals alike with her 2013 short film, The Captured Bird, which was executive produced by the legendary Guillermo del Toro.

Now the horror world awaits her latest effort in the anthology film XX. The film is made up of four different stories from four female directors. The stories are: Jovanka Vuckovic’s The Box, Roxanne Benjamin’s Don’t Fall, Karyn Kusama’s Only Living Son and musician St. Vincent (Annie Clark) rounds out the foursome with her directorial debut Birthday Party. read more

SOUTHBOUND– Review

Southbound – Review

By Lynn Sorel

Rating: 8 out of 10

Synopsis: Five interlocking tales of terror follow the fates of a group of weary travellers who confront their worst nightmares – and darkest secrets – over one long night on a desolate stretch of desert highway.

Our Thoughts: Southbound features a series of disturbing tales, which all take place in the same desert. Each story of which has some tie to past transgressions by those involved.

From the truly bizarre, to the terrifying, Southbound gives us some of the best kinds of stories horror has to offer. It reminded me of the Twilight Zone in someways, with the desert being an unusual place, where truly strange and horrible things are a regular occurrence. read more
