‘The Walking Dead’ Producers Sue AMC Networks over Failure to Pay Fair Market Value

According to the Hollywood Reporter, it looks like AMC is getting sued again, and this time The Walking Dead’s original producer Frank Darabont is not the plaintiff!

This time around, the current production team of Robert Kirkman, Gale Anne Hurd, Glen Mazzara, and David Alpert “…maintain AMC has failed to pay fair market value in the license fee for the series because the show is produced by its in-house AMC Studios arm.”   The lawsuit includes the trinity of AMC’s The Walking Dead stable:  The original program, Fear the Walking Dead, and even Talking Dead. read more

‘The Walking Dead’ Creator Robert Kirkman Signs Overall Deal with Amazon Studios

According to Deadline, the creator of the Walking Dead Robert Kirkman has just signed an overall deal with Amazon Studios and “Under the pact, Kirkman and Skybound will develop television projects for Prime Video. Skybound’s co-presidents of film and television, Bryan and Sean Furst, will oversee the Amazon projects in conjunction with Kirkman and Alpert.”

Sharon Tal Yguado, Head of Event Series, at Amazon Studios praised Kirkman, calling him “…a gifted storyteller who shares our passion for elevated genre storytelling that pushes boundaries.  Robert and the team at Skybound are some of the most innovative and fearless creatives in the business. Together, we plan to explore immersive worlds and bold ideas for Prime Video.” read more

Philip K. Dick’s Electric Dreams Anthology Series Coming to Amazon

According to the Hollywood Reporter,  a 10 episode anthology series based on the short stories of noted science fiction author Philip K. Dick entitled Philip K. Dick’s Electric Dreams has begun production in London.

The series (produced by Breaking Bad’s Bryan Cranston) will feature 10 stand-alone stories based on the author’s vast catalog of mind-bending tales.

Details of the first episode have also been revealed as Timothy Spall (Harry Potter, Sweeney Todd), “…will play the lead in The Commuter, as an unassuming employee at a train station who is alarmed to discover that a number of daily commuters are taking the train to a town that shouldn’t exist. Jack Thorne (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child) wrote the episode based on Dick’s short story, with Tom Harper (War & Peace, Peaky Blinders) on directing duties.” read more

Michael Gross Rumored to Return for Tremors 6

For the legions of fans of the horror movie franchise Tremors, we at HNN have some terrific news for you.  Not one, but TWO big projects are currently in pre-production that will continue the story arc for the Tremors universe.  As has been rumored for some time now, there will be a Tremors 6 and it will begin shooting shortly.  Michael Gross, the Family Ties alum who plays hero Burt Gummer in the movie series, confirmed this news on his Facebook page on Tuesday, September 20th.  This announcement was music to the ears of all hardcore followers of the campy monster movie franchise. read more

Kevin Bacon Developing Tremors Series for Amazon

In an interview with Collider’s Christina Radish, Kevin Bacon reported that the long-rumored Television adaptation of Tremors is in development at Amazon.  No timetable or production update was offered, but the announcement gives fans of the sand worn cult classic hope that the series will eventually “come up for air” on the streaming service.

Bacon discussed the unlikely home video and cable hit, marveling that “It did become a real classic. It was also at a time when the VHS was exploding. Movies took on a life of their own. The last thing you wanted, in that point in our industry, was to have a movie go straight to VHS. Tremors did not perform at the box office, but it did great on VHS.” read more
