‘It: Chapter Two’ Slips to 5th Place; ‘3 From Hell’ Performs Well in Limited Release

While it appears that Pennywise’s popularity is still high, the nearly three hour long sequel can’t match 2017’s “It-Mania”, as Chapter Two slipped into fifth place at this weekend’s box office with an estimated $15 million.

It: Chapter Two’s total box office is nothing to cry about (with nearly $178 million in domestic sales), but the ever-widening gap between the original’s box office performance and the sequel is significant.  It: Chapter Two is currently trailing It by $90 million, and that number will increase with additional box office competition in October and reduced interest in the sequel.  Three new releases (Downton Abbey, Ad Astra, and Rambo: Last Blood) defeated It, as well as the film that finished in second place to Chapter Two last week, HustlersIt: Chapter Two should be able to maintain a respectable box office return next week, but as soon as the highly anticipated Joker film hits theaters on October 4, expect Pennywise to give way to the original mad clown, as It’s box office run begins to wrap up. read more

‘3 from Hell’: The Horror News Network Review

After a 15 year hiatus, Rob Zombie’s Firefly family returns to the silver screen for a limited Fatham Events theatrical engagement. While House of 1000 Corpses and The Devil’s Rejects were created on $7 million budgets, 3 from Hell was made on a budget of just $3 million. Smaller budgets often mean more opportunities for filmmakers to be creative without the studio scrutiny and expectations that come with a higher price tag, and there’s usually more leeway when it comes to studio tolerance for the kinds of shocking and graphic content Zombie’s films are usually known for. But- while Zombie’s twisted vision for the franchise is clearly never compromised in this film- the limitations of the budget appear to prevent 3 from Hell from reaching the high watermark Zombie set with The Devil’s Rejects read more

Horror News Network’s Fall 2019 Movie Preview

After a busy, but underwhelming summer for horror films, this fall season offers a few less offerings than this past summer (and last fall).  The upside for horror fans (and studio executives) is the fact that this fall will bring two heavyweight Stephen King adaptations to the table, with one that is all but guaranteed to do some major damage at the box office: the jump-scare machine entitled It: Chapter Two.  The fall will also see the debut of King’s sequel to The Shining, Doctor Sleep, by the fan favorite creator of The Haunting of Hill House, Mike Flanagan. read more

Rob Zombie Releases Official Poster for ‘3 From Hell’

Rob Zombie took to his official web site today to unveil something 3 From Hell fans have long been waiting for: the movie’s official poster art!

The writer/director’s message is short and sweet, and it cuts right to an image that eerily evokes the original teaser poster art of the film’s predecessor, The Devil’s Rejects:

“Dig the official poster for 3 FROM HELL!”

Fans of the franchise will quickly notice that Sid Haig is not featured on the new poster art alongside Bill Moseley and Sheri Moon Zombie. Instead, Richard Brake’s character- a newcomer named Foxy- stands beside the two. How Haig’s fan-favorite character, Captain Spaulding, fits into the events of the film remains to be seen. read more

Danny Trejo Rescues Special Needs Child from Overturned Vehicle

On screen, Danny Trejo has taken on corrupt politicians and drug lords in Machete, dabbled in vampirism in From Dusk Till Dawn, and successfully captured the Firefly family in The Devil’s Rejects. His charismatic attitude and his ability to accomplish anything on screen has been a trademark of his 385 acting credits since 1983. Trejo showed the world yesterday that he’s just as big of a legend in real life when he saved a special needs child from an overturned vehicle in Los Angeles. read more

Rob Zombie Provides Updates About ‘3 From Hell’

Rob Zombie’s highly anticipated sequel to The Devil’s Rejects (naturally entitled 3 From Hell) has been shrouded in mystery since Zombie announced the project.  Luckily, for fans of the director, Zombie has begun to release some information about 3 From Hell and he recently took to facebook to reveal some tantalizing details.

According to Zombie, 3 From Hell faced some of the same difficulties that most of his film’s have faced (most notably his first feature film, House of 1,000 Corpses) when it came to securing an R Rating from the MPAA, saying “…we finally received our R Rating (for strong sadistic violence, language throughout, sexual content, graphic nudity and drug use). This was a very long process and threw us a couple months behind schedule. It’s a drag to be sure, but that the way it goes.” read more

CT Horrorfest 2018: From ‘The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2’ to ‘3 From Hell’ Panel with Bill Moseley

Bill Moseley greeted hundreds of rabid horror fans for an intimate panel at the 2018 CT Horrorfest this past Saturday in Danbury, Connecticut. A Connecticut native himself, the actor opened up about his early years in the nutmeg state, his college days at Yale University, and his writing gigs just before his big break in the world of horror filmmaking with The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2.

Moseley also shared the story of how he ended up working with the legendary guitarist Buckethead on his iconic album, Giant Robot, and the follow-up Cornbugs records the duo produced over a ten year period. He detailed how Buckethead’s face darkened upon learning that Moseley couldn’t perform as Chop Top due to licencing issues, but the two quickly collaborated on a twisted new scarecrow for Bill to embody. More recently, Moseley created an EP with heavy metal icon Phil Anselmo, entitled Songs of Darkness and Despair, and Bill delighted fans with the story of how Bill & Phil came to be. read more
