Studio Exclusively for Horror Films Launched in Russia

The first company exclusively for horror films is launching in Russia by the heads of the Russian distributor Volga and TV production company FPM Group, who are partnering.   Sergei Yershov (Volga) and Vladislav Severtsev   (co-founder of FMP Group) are launching the company together. Volga announced that it will be called 10/09.

Severtsev said in a press release “This will be the country’s sole studio focused on the production of movies in the [horror] genre.”

He also said that they have several projects currently in development. The first film will be going into production next spring and will be released by the end of 2016.

Yershov said that the company will focus on national archetypes and mythology in a way that will use modern film language so that it will have international appeal.   The pair co-produced the local horror film ‘Pikovaya Dama: Cherny Obryad (The Queen of Spades: Black Rite)’ recently. They called it a trial run before launching their company.
