Stephen King’s ‘The Mist’ Gets TV Series on Spike

Spike has ordered a pilot for a drama series based on Stephen King’s ‘The Mist.’   The Dimension Television series will tell the story about a seemingly harmless mist that over takes a small town and creates havoc.   The series is the first pilot ordered since the network has started producing scripted shows again.   The network will be continuing to explore straight-to-series and pilot series productions.   Christian Torpe (Rita) is writing and executive producing the series.   Dimension previously adapted the story as a film in 2007.

Bob Weinstein (cochairman of The Weinstein Company) said, “We are excited to be in business with Spike on their first scripted production pilot and working with the very talented Christian Torpe to further explore Stephen King’s classic novella and bring this riveting series to television audiences.”

Sharon Levy (EVP Original Series at Spike) said, “We are thrilled to join forces with the incredibly creative Christian Torpe and Dimension Films to develop Stephen King’s enthralling novella to a compelling series unlike anything else on television.”
