Showtime Is Bringing Back ‘Dexter’

Fans of the hot horror series Dexter will surely be rejoicing as Deadline is reporting that Showtime is bringing the show back for a limited 10-episode run with Michael C Hall returning as the iconic character. Initial reports have production starting early next year with a tentative series launch sometime in fall of 2021.

Dexter was a smash hit for Showtime and the series aired from October 1, 2006 to September 22, 2013. Set in Miami, the show centers on Dexter Morgan, a bloodstain pattern analysis with the for the Miami Metro Police Department, who moonlights as a serial killer hunter bringing those who brutally kill to his version of justice.

Dexter is such a special series, both for its millions of fans and for Showtime, as this breakthrough show helped put our network on the map many years ago,” said Levine, Co-President of Entertainment at Showtime. “We would only revisit this unique character if we could find a creative take that was truly worthy of the brilliant, original series.  Well, I am happy to report that Clyde Phillips and Michael C. Hall have found it, and we can’t wait to shoot it and show it to the world.”

There have been no details released yet about the return of Dexter, however given the mixed reviews of the series finale avid fans will be curious to see where the show picks up.
