Series Based On R.L. Stine’s ‘The Babysitter’ Books In The Works

Big news for fans of R.L. Stine as yet another one of his works is being adapted on the small screen. Lookout Entertainment announced via Twitter that they are working with Chernin Entertainment to develop a new series based on R.L. Stine’s The Babysitter novels.

The Babysitter was first published in July, 1989 and focused on Jenny Jeffers, a teenage girl who takes a babysitting job for a young boy named Donny. While doing her job Jenny starts to get ominous phone calls and finds a menacing letter stashed in her backpack. This leads to climatic ending where the babysitter must fight for her life.

Three sequels to the book were published: The Babysitter II on July 1991, The Babysitter III on October 1993 and The Babysitter IV on June 1995.

Stine’s works have been a hot commodity as of late with announcements of a new Goosebumps series, Fear Street movies in development at 20th Century Fox and Just Beyond on Disney+.
