Screwed Interview with Tyler Kirkham

Screwed follows a young woman who awakens in a hospital covered in scars as if she had been taken apart and put back together again; her mind as fragmented as her body. As she tries to piece together what’s happened to her, she will find many enemies are after her but she’ll also find a valuable ally in FBI Agent Erin Scott.

We caught up with creator, Tyler Kirkham to talk about this series.

Horror News Network: How did you come up with the concept for Screwed?

Tyler Kirkham: Just my love for the Horror genre mainly. I'm a freak for anything Horror/Halloween. I wanted to do a Horror, action, drama! The Frankenstein legend is one that can be altered in numerous ways, yet still have a foot hold with a story that everyone knows about.

By doing this people will expect the story to go one way and when its not its a pleasant surprise!

Horror News Network: Can you give us more information on this Frankenstein-like woman that awakens with her body stitched together?

Tyler Kirkham: No! I really can't haha. Her name is Anne, her discovering what happened to her is a major facet of the story so I can't give much away. She remembers vague things that lead her to certain points in the story. Eventually discovering who or WHAT she is.

Horror News Network: What can you tell us about FBI Agent Erin Scott and her role in this title?

Tyler Kirkham: Erin Scott is an FBI agent with a big heart and a traumatizing experience in her resent past. She had a run in with a serial killer not to long ago. So she has allot of sympathy for Anne, and wants to help her as much as she can. She seems to be the only one that even cares about her well being. Erin is a major player in the story and readers will learn all about her and her past.

Horror News Network: What other types of monsters will we see in Screwed?

Tyler Kirkham: Lots of other Frankenstein type creatures, Living dead corpses, mad scientists, messed up feds, a creation in issue 6 that will disturb some readers, and or course Suture. He is our main villain and plays the Igor roll in the story! He has a sick and twisted sarcastic personality that comes from Keith Thomas Co writer of the series. I think Suture is Keith's release, and he expresses himself though this character…. =)

Horror News Network: What can we expect in terms of blood and guts?

Tyler Kirkham: We are not holding back in this book. I'd don't get the chance to do allot of blood and guts in my normal comics, so we wanted to make this one pretty sick. That being said we aren't trying to push the boundary just to push the boundary. Its just were not censoring it. Glad Zenescope is cool with it!

Horror News Network: Is this title set to be an ongoing or mini-series?

Tyler Kirkham: Screwed is set to be a 6 issue mini series. If it does really well it could continue, but as on now that is the plan. We have all 6 issues written now!

Horror News Network: Where can our readers find out more information on Screwed?

Tyler Kirkham: First off the best place is your local comic shop. Go in and say I'd like to order Screwed from Zenescope entertainment. Then hopefully continue reading the series. I plan on setting up a blog spot or Facebook page for it. For now my website. www.tylerkirkham.com facebook http://www.facebook.com/tyler.kirkham1, or twitter @tylerkirkhamart.

Horror News Network: In closing, what would you like to say about Screwed?

Tyler Kirkham: Its in April's previews magazine. Will be available in June at comic shops. If you like Horror, Action or drama, Screwed if a book for you. Give it a shot and hopefully stay for the ride!
