Sam Raimi to Produce ‘The Grudge’ Reboot for Sony

Some grudges never die! Sony Pictures will be re-animating 2004’s The Grudge franchise in the form of a new “re-imagining” of the series.

Variety reports that Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert will produce the new film for Ghost House in a co-production with Good Universe. Nicolas Pesce (writer/director of 2016’s disturbing film, The Eyes of My Mother) will write and direct the movie, and Demian Bichir (The Hateful Eight, The Nun) and Andrea Riseborough (Birdman, Oblivi0n) will star in lead roles in the new film.

Sam Raimi had this to say about the announcement for The Grudge reboot:

“We are so excited about this new adaptation. We went back to the original source material to deliver a relentless supernatural thrill ride that explores the horrors of American suburbia.”
