Sam Raimi to Produce & Alexandre Aja to Direct ‘Crawl’ for Paramount

The folks at Paramount Pictures are looking to follow up their tremendous success story with A Quiet Place by fast tracking another dark thriller movie… and they’ve hired two horror heavyweights to make the project a reality!

Deadline reports that Sam Raimi will produce and Alexandre Aja will direct a new film called Crawl for Paramount. According to their report, the movie will be about, “a young woman who becomes trapped in a flooding house during a Category 5 hurricane and must battle against Florida’s most savage and feared predators.”

Raimi is known by horror fans everywhere for his classic Evil Dead franchise, which he wrote and directed. He has recently acted as producer on such projects as The Grudge and the Don’t Breathe franchises. Aja first made a splash in the world of horror cinema with 2003’s High Tension and 2006’s The Hills Have Eyes remake.

A Quiet Place took about a year between being green lighted and hitting theaters, and the studio is reportedly looking at a similar timeline for Crawl, so fans can look forward to seeing this creepy premise on the big screen in just a short while.

John has loved movie monsters for as far back as he can remember. He's since collected up as many comics, statues, and autographed material related to movies and music that he can get his hands on. He is particularly interested in the critical and analytical discussion of the best stories the horror genre has to offer. One of his largest works on the topic is a study on the portrayals of people with disabilities in horror films.
