Sam Raimi Rumored to Direct Bermuda Triangle Film for Skydance

The Hollywood Reporter announced today that Sam Raimi is in talks with Skydance to direct a film about the Bermuda Triangle. Universal and Warner Bros. are also currently developing competing projects about this airplane-eating geographical urban legend/phenomenon, so the word on the street is that everyone is extremely tight-lipped about plot details and specifics. In fact, The Hollywood Reporter’s sources say that Raimi had to travel to Skydance’s studios just to read the script, which is penned by Doug Miro and Carlo Bernard (The Sorcerer’s Apprentice and Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time).

While Raimi is famous to horror fans for his successful Evil Dead franchise, he also perfected the modern superhero movie formula with the original Spider-Man trilogy long before anyone ever heard of the “Marvel Cinematic Universe.” His most recent mainstream film, Oz The Great and Powerful, earned approximately $493 million worldwide on a budget of $215 million.

Stay tuned to Horror News Network for more information on Sam Raimi and Skydance’s Bermuda Triangle project as it breaks.
