Rest In Peace: Basil Gogos Dead at 78

It is with great sadness that we report the passing of Basil Gogos. Gogos was an icon in the world of horror art and he defined a style that is immediately recognizable and influential to many horror artists to date. He is most known for his portraits of movie monsters for Famous Monsters of Filmland in the 1960’s and 1970’s. He also served as a cover artist for Creepy and Eerie back when they were under Warren publishing. Basil more recently in the 1990’s prepared cover art for bands including The Misfits and Rob Zombie. His presence will be greatly missed, but his art will live on and continue to awe and inspire.

He died on September 14, 2017. He was 78 years old.
