Following Netflix’s trend of releasing films with no warning, fans of Spanish director Paco Plaza will be happy to hear that his recent Ouija-inspired film Veronica is now available for viewing on the streaming service. The film was previously released internationally and on the festival circuit in 2017.
Plaza is best known for 2007’s [Rec] which is a the film that countless others horror director’s have stolen from, with an APB out for shots of screaming women being dragged by their feet into darkness.
As evidenced by the trailer below, Veronica seems to contain many of the same tropes associated with [Rec] including dark rooms, claustrophobia, urban sprawl, and of course, possession.
Stay tuned for more surprise announcements from Netflix as they continue to bring diverse horror content to their service.
