‘Phantasm’ Star Angus Scrimm Passes Away

Angus Scrimm, known for his role as the “Tall Man” in ‘Phantasm’ has passed away at the age of 89.  He was also known for horror films such ‘I Sell the Dead,’ ‘John Dies at the End,’ ‘Subspecies,’ and ‘Wishmaster.’ He had a recurring TV role on ‘Alias,’ and ‘Tales From Beyond the Pale,’ a creepy audio series. He also had roles on TV shows such as ‘Masters of Horror’ and ‘The Nightmare Room.’

His longtime friend, collaborator and ‘Phantasm’ director Don Coscarelli reported the news of his death to EW.   In an email he wrote “Angus Scrimm passed away peacefully tonight surrounded by his friends and loved one.[His] performance as the Tall Man is a towering achievement in horror film history. He was the last in a long line of classic horror movie stars. He was a terrific actor and an even better friend. He will be missed.”
