Original Marilyn Munster, Beverley Owen Passes Away

Sad news for horror fans today as the original actress to play Marilyn Munster on the hit TV series The Munsters, Beverley Owen has passed away at the age of 81. Beverley’s daughter, Polly Stone, told TMZ that her mother was surrounded by family and friends when she died on February 21st. Owen was diagnosed with ovarian cancer back in January of 2017.

Owen stepped into the role of Marilyn, the black sheep of the Munster’s family and played the part for 13 episodes of the iconic series. She would depart the series to get married to Sesame Street producer, Jon Stone. Pat Priest took over the role of Marilyn for the remainder of the series.

In addition to The Munsters, the actress is known for her appearance on TV shows such as Another World, As the World Turns, The Virginian, and Wagon Train.  In 1964, Owen starred in the Universal western feature Bullet for a Badman alongside the future Kolchak, Darren McGavin.

We here at Horror News Network send our condolences to Beverley’s family and friends during this difficult time.
