Netflix Acquires ‘Under the Shadow’ Ahead of Sundance Premiere

Netflix has acquired the worldwide rights to distribute ‘Under the Shadow.’  The film centers around a woman named Shideh, in 1988 Tehran, as she goes back to medical school after giving birth to her daughter Dorsa.  Her husband is sent to serve in  the Iran-IRaq War, as air raids drive neighbors from the town.  She is left alone with her daughter, who grows increasingly ill and seems disturbed.

Babak Anvari  wrote and directed the film which  stars Narges Rashidi. Lucan Toh, Oliver Roskill and Emily Leo of Wigwam Films produced the film, which is premiering in the Midnight section of the Sundance Film Festival.
