Universal’s next monster movie, ‘The Mummy’, which will set the stage for it’s upcoming monster universe, has been pushed back from June 24, 2016 to March 24, 2017. The delay is going to cause a ripple effect for the monster films set to follow it. The untitled second film is postponed from April 21, 2017 to March 30, 2018. Guillermo del Toro’s Pacific Rim sequel is also getting pushed back as well, from April 7, 2017 to August 4, 2017. The delays were announced at the end of Universal’s presentation at CinemaCon today. Instead of the monster films, Universal will be releasing the drug thriller ‘Mena’ starring Tom Cruise on Jan. 6, 2017. However, the upcoming ‘King Kong: Skull Island’ is still due to premiere March 2017, and will mark the launch of a King Kong franchise.
