Late Summer Horror Release ‘Polaroid’ moved from August to December

Deadline is reporting that Lars Klevberg’s film Polaroid (which was adapted from a short film he directed) has been moved from August 25th to December 1st.

Although the main reason cited has to do with the animated ballet story Leap! being moved up from a September opening (a film that has already been moved around the calendar a number of times), the move also allows Polaroid to retreat from Annabelle: Creation, which may be the only heavyweight horror contender at the box office this season.

Although the December 1st date is relatively “competition free” and the only currently scheduled horror film in November or December, Polaroid will have to contend with carry-over business from Thor Ragnarok and Justice League, as well as the December 8th release of Guillermo del Toro’s The Shape of Water, and a little movie called Star Wars: The Last Jedi which opens on December 15th.

One thing is for certain: Polaroid will screen long before Amityville: The Awakening.

Stay tuned for more updates on upcoming horror releases as well as HNN’s  Fall Horror Movie Preview in late August.
