Josh Gates Embarks on ‘Expedition Unknown: Hunt for Extraterrestrials’

Although Josh Gates left his weekly paranormal adventures behind years ago (Destination Truth) in search of some of the greatest mysteries that history has to offer (Expedition Unknown), the noted explorer will journey back to his roots for the Travel Channel’s  four-week special event, Expedition Unknown: Hunt for Extraterrestrials beginning on Wednesday, October 4 at 9 p.m.  Gates will visit North America, South America, Africa and Europe, and according to the official press release will “…search for evidence of life beyond our planet and the truth behind longstanding extraterrestrial legends.”

Gates offered his fans a reason to be excited about the new mini-series, stating that “This is by far the most extraordinary expedition I’ve ever been on.  Like many, I’ve long been obsessed with the question of whether we’re alone in the universe. Now, with incredible access to state-of-the-art scientific facilities, top secret sites and shocking new evidence, we may finally find out. It’s an expedition into the ultimate unknown.”

Some of the highlights of the special include: investigation of  ancient signs of aliens in remote caves on Easter Island, futuristic deep-space telescopes in Chile’s Atacama Desert, hunting for meteorite fragments at a crash site in the wilderness of Zimbabwe, a visit to NASA’s mission control in Texas to connect with astronauts in orbit, and of course, no UFO program would be complete without a trip to Roswell,New Mexico.   Gates will also conduct “…interviews with people who claim that they have irrefutable evidence of UFOs,  and hears the very latest from scientists who are bringing us closer than ever to answers.”

In addition to the four one hour installments of the new series, each episode will be followed by a series of after-show specials entitled Expedition Unknown: Hunt for Extraterrestrials – The Debrief which will air at 10 p.m.  The Debrief “…will revisit Gates’ journey in a candid, behind-the-scenes forum, as Gates and his team dig deeper into their astounding findings, further analyze key evidence and reveal never-before-seen footage from the expedition.”

If you are unfamiliar with Gates and his brand of investigating, be prepared for a scholarly, thorough investigation of the facts and rumors about UFOs and Gates’ own brand of travel humor (which is reason enough to tune in).

If you can’t get enough of Gates and his crew, have no fear, as a new season of Expedition Unknown will debut on the Travel Channel in December.
