James Wan Reveals The Original Demon In ‘The Conjuring 2’

James Wan took to Instagram a few days ago and wowed fans by showing off the original design for the demonic entity that would haunt the Hodgson family and Lorraine Warren in The Conjuring 2. While the demonic nun, Valak, eventually made the final cut, this horned demon brings his own level of creepiness.

In the Instagram post, Wan mentioned that “I remember the real-life Lorraine Warren talking about her love and reverence for her nun friends, and a lightbulb went off — thus… the Demon Nun was born. So we went back and replaced all the Horned Demon with the Nun during additional photography.”

Released on June 10, 2016 The Conjuring 2 starred Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson as paranormal investigators Lorraine and Ed Warren. As expected, the film was a hit as it raked in over $320 million at the box office. The villain of the film, Valak even earned her own spin-off film in 2018. On a budget of only $22 million the film brought in $365.6 million from theaters.
