James Karen Passes Away at 94

We have sad news to report today as long-time actor James Karen passed away yesterday at the age of 94. Karen appeared in a slew of movies and TV shows dating all the way back to 1948. He is loved by genre fans for his roles in Frankenstein Meets the Space Monster, Time Walker, Poltergeist, The Return of the Living Dead, Return of the Living Dead Part II, Piranha, and The Unborn. If you lived on the East Coast you may have even seen Karen on TV as he was the spokesman for the Pathmark supermarket chain.

The actor received many awards and nominations for his horror work including a nomination in 1985 for a Saturn Award for his role in The Return of the Living Dead, an honorary Saturn Award for his contributions to the horror film industry in 1998, and a nomination for a Fangoria Chainsaw Award in 1991 for his role in The Unborn.
