‘IT Chapter 2’ Runtime Confirmed by Director Andy Muschietti

Floating up from the sewers of Derry, ME this Fall, IT Chapter 2 Director Andy Muschietti has confirmed the runtime of his conclusion to the 2017 original film. It will definitely not be short running about two hours and 45 minutes the director said in an interview with Digital Spy.

“At the beginning,” Muschietti said, “when you’re writing and building the beats of the story, everything that you put in there seems very essential to the story. However, when you have the movie finally edited and it’s four hours long, you realize that some of the events and some of the beats can be easily lifted but the essence of the story remains intact. You cannot deliver a 4-hour movie because people will start to feel uncomfortable – no matter what they see – but we ended up having a movie that is 2 hours and 45 minutes, and the pacing is very good.”

He added, “Nobody who’s seen the movie has had any complaint.”

Cast members of “The Losers Club” include James McAvoy (X-Men franchise, Split) as Bill, Jessica Chastain (Crimson Peak, MAMA) as Beverly, Bill Hader (Barry, Trainwreck) as Richie, Jay Ryan (Beauty and the Beast) as Ben, James Ransone (Generation Kill) as Eddie, Isaiah Mustafa as Mike and Andy Bean (Here and Now) as Stanely Uris. Other cast include Teach Grant (Altered Carbon, Damnation) as Henry Bowers, Jess Weixler (The Son, Chained for Life) as Bill’s wife, Xavier Dolan (Boy Erased) as Adrian Mellon, Will Beinbrink (Queen of the South) as Tom Rogan and, of course, the return of Bill Skarsgård as Pennywise the Clown.

Chapter 2 is written for the screen by Gary Dauberman based on the novel by Stephen King. Muschietti returns at the helm.

IT opened in theaters on September, 8 2017 to a $123.1 million opening weekend, the highest opening release ever for a September premier, a Fall release and a horror movie. It made just $9 million shy of Deadpool to become the second-highest opening for an R-rated movie. Earning over $700 million at the worldwide box office, making it the highest-grossing horror movie of all time.

It Chapter 2 opens on September 6 this year.

Since Mark was four years old he has always loved the horror genre, even when his mother would be a good parent and not let him watch such films. It was when he would sneak into the Horror section at the video store called Tommy K's that he would see all of the VHS covers of classics like Friday the 13th and A Nightmare on Elm Street.

During his time as a journalism major and news staff writer at Southern CT State University, he had the pleasure of meeting and interviewing paranormal investigator Lorraine Warren before a seminar in 2009 at the Lyman Center on campus.
