‘It’ Actress Sophia Lillis to Star in ‘Nancy Drew and the Hidden Staircase’

Sophia Lillis earned tremendous praise over her performance as Beverly Marsh in last fall’s theatrical adaptation of Stephen King’s It. Now, in addition to the sequel to It, Lillis will be working with Warner Brothers again to portray another classic literary character.

Deadline reports that Lillis will play the River Heights mystery solver Nancy Drew in the upcoming film, Nancy Drew and the Hidden Staircase. The movie will be produced by Ellen DeGeneres, Jeff Kleeman, and Chip Diggins, and the studio plans to begin shooting soon.

Nancy Drew first appeared in print in the 1930s. Over the decades, she has solved all sorts of crimes and mysteries, sometimes while teaming up with her male counterparts, The Hardy Boys. It makes sense for Warner Brothers to push the development of the project at this time given the tremendous success of other retro franchises with young adult followings such as It and Stranger Things, as well as the rabid fan anticipation of The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.

Fans of Sophia Lillis who would like to catch her in another dark production before It: Chapter Two and Nancy Drew and the Hidden Staircase can look forward to her performance opposite Amy Adams in the upcoming HBO mini-series, Sharp Objects, based on the Gillian Flynn novel.

Stay tuned to Horror News Network for more details on this exciting project as they break!
