IFC Midnight Debuts Trailer For ‘Rent-A-Pal’ Starring Wil Wheaton

Fan favorite actor Wil Wheaton will put on his horror cap to play a villain in a new flick from IFC Midnight. Rent-A-Pal will be a mix between Videodrome and Tinder, according to a press release from the company.

Set in 1990, the film follows a lonely bachelor named David (Brian Landis Folkins) as he searches for an escape from the day-to-day grind of caring for his aging mother (Kathleen Brady). While seeking a partner through a video dating service, he discovers a strange VHS tape called Rent-A-Pal. Hosted by the charming and charismatic Andy (Wil Wheaton), the tape offers him much-needed company, compassion, and friendship. But Andy’s friendship comes at a cost, and David desperately struggles to afford the price of admission.

Written and directed by Jon Stevenson, the movie stars Wil Wheaton (Stand By MeStar Trek: The Next Generation), Brian Landis Folkins (Hoax), Kathleen Brady (Breaking Bad) and Amy Rutledge (Neighbor).
