IFC Films Acquires ‘The Rental’

The Rental, a thriller that showcases the directorial debut of actor Dave Franco, will be distributed in the U.S. by IFC Films, according to Deadline.

The movie, which is slated for a July 24 release, stars Alison Brie, Dan Stevens, Jeremy Allen White and Sheila Vand.

Franco, who has such films as Neighbors and 21 Jump Street on his resume, told Deadline he has wanted “to direct a feature for a long time. As a viewer, there’s nothing I love more than a smart thriller.”

The screenplay, by Franco and Joe Swanberg, stems from a story they worked on with Mike Demski.

The plot centers around two couples on a weekend getaway to a seemingly ideal house. All seems perfect until the four friends discover sinister secrets they have been keeping from each other. Oh, and they may not be alone in the house, either.

The movie is produced and financed by Black Bear Pictures Stay tuned to Horror News Network for the latest on The Rental.
