Future Diary Volume 1
Writer & Artist: Sakae Esuno
Publisher: Viz

Synopsis: Yukiteru is a lonely student whose only hobby is the daily diary he keeps on his cell phone.  But Yukiteru has a secret that nobody knows about…his cellphone can tell the future!  Now a vicious game of survival is about to begin among twelve future diary holders – with the winner crowned god of the new world! Sakae Esuno’s chilling shonen masterpiece is a relentless adventure that will have you questioning the boundaries of time and space – and hoping for the slightest glimmer of hope in a dark, desolate world that may look surprisingly familiar to all of us…

Our thoughts: Imagine if you had a cell phone that could tell the future. That sounds pretty cool, right? Now imagine that there are other people trying to kill you because they also have a type of cellphone which tells the future. This is the concept behind the new horror/battle manga, ‘Future Diary.’

A god, Deus Ex Machina, has enlisted a dozen players in this game of kill or be killed. The main character, Yukiteru must team up with another diary holder, Yuno to try to survive this game.

Each diary is written from the perspective of the players future self. If one player is able to destroy another users diary their future will cease to exist and they will die.

The first volume of this series is an interesting read to say the least. I will definitely keep this series on my radar.
