Hey guys and ghouls! I know not all of you are into the metal or thrash scene, but I wanted to give props (and raise awareness) of a local Richmond, VA band called Hypokalypse. They are a great bunch of guys and their lead guitarist, Ramzi, is only 16 years old and already a super talented axe player. Been checking these guys out for months since first catching them opening for Megadeth back in April. They went through a lineup change, dropping their lead singer and parting ways with one of their guitarists, but their new lineup is killer! Their sounds, the lyrics, and the energy they put off on stage is amazing.

You can check out their lastest set on YouTube here:

http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCBaC_w66-6WfXIWFYrsCWPg

The vids shown are from their show at The National in Richmond on 8/11/12. Video was shot by an friend of the band and while the quality is not pro level you can still hear the band well.

They have a page over at ReverbNation here:

http://www.reverbnation.com/hypokalypse

They can also be found on Facebook and Twitter. Give them a look, give them a shot, and let me know what you think.

Hypokalypse won the Slamuary Battle of the Bands at KC's Music Alley in Fredericksburg, VA winning the slot to open for Straight Line Stitch on Sat, Feb 2nd.

The band also moved to #1 on the metal chart on ReverbNation / RVA.

There are a couple new vids up on their YouTube channel with better quality sound from their gig at Cullen's Cove if you are interested. The earlier vids from The National and Kingdom don't have the best quality sound due to the devices used to record.

They have an EP on the way that should be available in the next week or two. Once it is out I will post a link for those that are interested in checking it out.

First two songs from the soon to be released EP are up now on ReverbNation here:

http://www.reverbnation.com/hypokalypse

"Texas Funeral" and "Scavenger's Daughter" are the first two tracks released for people to check out and are listed as the first two songs on the ReverbNation play list for the band's page.

Give them a listen and tell me what you think.

Ok, I imagine there are some GWAR fans here at ComicMonsters.com. Dave Brockie of GWAR will be at Benny's Tavern in Colonial Heights, VA on Sat, Feb 23rd and Hypokalypse will be opening for him! Promises to be a heckuva show. Bloody Crackdown will be playing as well.

If you are in the area, come out and support local metal. Headbanger

You can now listen to "Blitzkrieg", "Annelise", and "Silent Entity".

Anyone had a chance to give them a listen yet?

EP is out and the band is celebrating with an EP release party and show at Wonderland in Richmond, VA tomorrow night, Friday March 22nd at 9:00pm. I will be there along with band and the rest of the Militia (fans) to celebrate, thrash until they shut the place down, drink some beer with my boys, and help kick things off.

If you live nearby, come out and join us.

Check out Hypokalypse on Facebook, Twitter, and on Reverb Nation to hear the five songs from the EP at the address below:

The Launch Party this past Friday was insane! Wonderland was packed as Hypokalypse took the stage. As they played through their one hour set the crowd surged forward, the pit was intense, and at points I thought the thrashing bodies were going to tear the place down around our ears! Best show to date for the guys and they raised the bar!

The band shot a video for their song "Blitzkrieg" which is now up on YouTube at the link below:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dk2hRSYZSQs

Give it a look and leave feedback if you would.

Check Hypokalypse out on Facebook, Twitter, and over at Reverb Nation at the link below:

Hypokalypse will be traveling to Norfolk, VA this Saturday, April 13th, to compete in a Battle of the Bands. The winner will open for Mastodon at an upcoming concert in Virginia (date & venue to be updated later).

This is a big opportunity for the band and local fans in Richmond will be making the trip to show our support.

Check them out if you get a chance on Facebook, Twitter, or Reverb Nation.

Hypokalypse won the Battle of the Bands this past Saturday night in Norfolk and they will be opening for Mastodon on Tue, Aug 13th.

Excellent show at the NorVA with a bunch of talented bands. Got to hear some great local talent, shout for my boys in Hypokalypse, and now we have an opening gig. Wish them luck!
