Final ‘Mindhunter’ Trailer Released; David Fincher Talks Serial Killers with Charlie Rose

The final trailer for the upcoming David Fincher produced Netflix series Mindhunter (which begins streaming on October 13th) has just been released.

Fincher is not only the producer of the series, but he also  directed four episodes, which is based on John Douglas’ seminal book, Mindhunter: Inside the FBI’s Elite Serial Crime Unit.  Douglas was one of the first criminal profilers and actually coined the term “serial killer”.

Fincher recently appeared on the Charlie Rose Show and told Rose that he looked at the series as a way to examine real life serial killers such as  Charles Manson and “the Son of Sam” David Berkowitz in an attempt to demystify them as “…very sad people”.  He went on to say that he didn’t “…want to talk about the gourmet, you know, opera expert who — you know, to me these are very sad people under who have, you know, grown up under horrendous circumstances. This is not — this is not to, you know, overstate how much empathy or sympathy we should have for them but it’s just simply a fact…We’d seen so much, you know, of this sort of literary conceit of, there’s a very fine line separates the hunters from the hunted. And I really thought it was time to sort of take that back and make it, really, the reason that we are fascinated with them is because we’re nothing like them. They are unfathomable.”

Check out the final trailer below for this intriguing new series.
