Enter the Danger Zone

by: Stephanie Shamblin Gray

Many of you may have heard the Action Lab Entertainment announcement for the formation of their new mature readers imprint titled, Action Lab: Danger Zone. What you may not know is that this imprint has a heavy focus on horror titles. The first of the books start shipping this month with more rolling out in June, so keep an eye out for the following titles to make their way to a comic shop (and digital equivalent) near you.

The Final Plague

Synopsis: The Final Plague is a re-imagining of the zombie genre from the eyes that are always watching, rarely seen, and outnumber us exponentially: animals. When animals become infected with a virus that causes them to hunger for human flesh there is nowhere safe for humans. Imagine if every rat in New York City stopped being afraid of you…and started being hungry.

This book got a great review here on ComicMonsters.com that you can check out: http://www.comicmonsters.com/item-7473-The_Final_Plague_1_Review.html. Also, see The Making Of… Article here: http://www.comicmonsters.com/item-7540-The_Making_Of_The_Final_Plague_by_Tony_Guaraldi_Brown.html.

Ehmm Theory

Synopsis: Gabriel Ehmm has woken to a world where zombie little people have risen from their graves, someone calling himself “Saint Peter” offers bargains, and his pet kitten can now talk. Connected by blood and straddling the afterlife, Gabe and Mr. Whispers (the aforementioned talking cat) begins universe spanning adventure in the first issue of the mind-bending and genre-blending new series.

A horror/comedy with circus zombies and talking kittens. At a recent convention, the Action Lab: Danger Zone folks told us that they have a great feeling about the future of this title. Talking kittens have that effect on horror creators.

The Trip

Synopsis: A group of college kids on a desert- baked road trip take a Native American drug that unlocks their deepest fears. Now, if a teenager and his grandfather for a local reservation can’t find the in time, they’re going to have to face their own personal terrors, or be consumed by them! The Trip is an Indian drug fueled ride into horror.

This is a graphic novel with a really cool and distinctive look. The cover will catch your attention right away and The Trip will pull you the rest of the way in.

Night of the 80’s Undead

Synopsis: It’s 1986, and Russia’s last ditch Cold War effort is to strike at our American excess lifestyle with bio-engineered Colombian cocaine. What happens when two girls out for a good time cross paths with a huge celebrity party hyped up on commie zombie blow?!?! Radical undead action man! Totally!!

The early information on this book seems to indicate that everyone should plant their tongue firmly in their cheek and get ready for an 80’s flashback. Like, Oh My God! For sure!
