Crystal Reed and Maria Sten Join ‘Swamp Thing’

Casting has started to heat up for the Swamp Thing series coming to DC Universe digital streaming service in 2019. Two cast announcements have been revealed by Deadline in the last two days. Crystal Reed has signed on to play the female lead in the series, Abby Arcane. Maria Sten also joins the cast as Liz Tremayne.

Reed’s character is described as a smart and caring, CDC Doctor whose strong sense of empathy puts her at the center of a horrific life-threatening epidemic in her hometown, where she faces emotional demons from her past.

Sten’s character is described as a local newpaper reporter and a close childhood friend of Abby Arcane.

In Swamp Thing, what’s first thought to be a swamp-born virus in an isolated town in Louisiana turns out to be much more as Abby Arcane (Reed) discovers the swamps terrifying secrets. The series is written by Gary Dauberman (IT, The Nun, Annabelle) and Mark Verheiden (My Name is Bruce, Hemlock Grove) and hails from James Wan’s Atomic Monster in association with Warner Bros. Television.
