It was announced at Comic-Con tonight that ‘Ash vs. Evil Dead’ will be premiering on Halloween at 9 PM on Starz.
Bruce Campbell is reprising his role as Ash, who has been avoiding growing up for thirty years, when he is forced to take on a Deadite who threatens to destroy the human race. Lucy Lawless (Spartacus), Jill Marie Jones, Ray Santiago (Meet The Fockers)and Dana DeLorenzo (Sleepy Hollow) are also cast in the 10 episode half-hour series.
At the panel, Raimi talked about the series, saying “It’s really a continuation of the Evil Dead movies.” DiGregorio said the series will be like a 5-hour movie and Raimi added that “Starz didn’t want to change it, they wanted the gore and to push.”
Campbell and the crew reassured the fans that Starz was the right place for it saying “We have unrestricted content, that’s why Starz makes sense for this show. They don’t have a problem with anything.” Lawless added “You have to quite far to find where the line is with Starz,” and that “scary and its funny, and not at the same time.”
“It was really great to see him play this old character again. This time as a real actor,” said Raimi, referring to Campbell’s role, to the laughter of the audience. Campbell followed by asking how many women would have sex with him tonight, saying “It’s Starz, I can say whatever I want.”
A new trailer for the series was also released, which you can view below.
