Colin Trevorrow to Return to the Director’s Chair for ‘Jurassic World 3’

Colin Trevorrow may not have directed this summer’s Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom– the follow-up to his wildly popular 2015 film, Jurassic World– but that doesn’t mean he’s done with dinosaurs just yet! Turns out, after co-writing and producing Fallen Kingdom, Trevorrow will return to the director’s chair for part three.

Executive Producer Steven Spielberg told Entertainment Weekly that, “Colin Trevorrow is going write and direct the third Jurassic World story.” He will write the film’s script with Emily Carmichael (Pacific Rim: Uprising).

After the tremendous success of Jurassic World, Trevorrow signed on with Lucasfilm to direct Star Wars Episode IX and he directed 2017’s The Book of Henry. Unfortunately, Henry wasn’t exactly a crowd-pleaser, and Trevorrow ultimately followed a long line of directors to split with Lucasfilm mid-project due to “creative differences.” Jurassic World 3 will mark Trevorrow’s return to directing and his return to the franchise he reinvigorated after those two projects.

Trevorrow had this to say to Entertainment Weekly about the new project:

“It’s important to this franchise that we welcome new creative voices to keep our storytelling fresh and alive. I’m thrilled with the tension and beauty J.A. (Bayona) has brought to Fallen Kingdom, and I know Emily will add another layer of emotion to the concluding chapter of our trilogy.”

Stay tuned to Horror News Network for more details on this dino-riffic project as they break!
