Producer wants Kristen Stewart for Martyrs

Martyrs movie

Twilight series producer Wyck Godfrey is in development on the long-mooted remake of Martyrs, the brutal French film by Pascal Laugier.

Fearnet spoke to Godfrey this weekend only to learn he would “love” to put Twilight’s Kristen Stewart in the lead role of the American version. Mark L. Smith penned the script; his credits include Vacancy and The Hole.”We’re doing it for an American audience with an American cast,” Godfrey told the site. “The script we’ve written for it is awesome.”

Guillermo Del Toro talks Van Helsing

Guillermo Del Toro

Guillermo Del Toro commented on the Van Helsing rumors on his site:

Van Helsing (writing and producing) is still in talks and not quite certain. Even then, I would like to share my plans only at COMICON. I am taking it slowly and marking very, very carefully the calendar of projects that I will be involved as producer, writer, etc I will not announce the project I intend to direct until then. I am very happy to say that all the projects and partnerships being considered are both quite surprising and, I hope, powerful. Much as I want, I cannot say much more at this time but I anxiously await to share these with you. I will be shopping on the floor in San Diego for several days. See you there!!

Splice movie review

Splice movie

Staff member, Daniel Ramirez took the time review Splice.

If you’re like me, you would look at a movie like Splice and not expect too much. All the previews seem to indicate a sci-fi horror flick that’s very generic. After seeing the movie I can safely say that nothing could be further from the truth. As a horror movie it doesn’t contain a whole lot of scares but it is intriguing and difficult to look away. The special effects add to the realism thanks to Guillermo del Toro’s involvement in the movie. Overall the movie is very well done with a story that not only keeps you on the edge of your seat but is disturbing on many levels. If you want to avoid spoilers I suggest you stop reading right now.
