A meteor lands in Jamestown California in 1849 during the gold rush. It is found by miners who release it’s spoors which turn the population into blood thirsty mutants.

The Presence DVD release

Lionsgate will release The Presence on DVD, Digital Download and On Demand October 4.   The Presence is described as:    Looking to escape the pressures of everyday life, a woman (Sorvino) travels to a secluded cabin in the woods.  She’s not alone, though, because an apparition (West) inhabits the cabin and begins to stalk her.  But when the woman’s boyfriend (Kirk) arrives, the spirit in the house grows darker and more obsessive.  She soon starts to exhibit weird and irrational behavior and her boyfriend fears she’s been possessed by the ghost in love with her.

Underworld 4 to be called Underworld Awakening

Sony has given an official title to the fourth Underworld, Underworld Awakening. Directed by Mans Marlind and Bjorn Stein, the January 20, 2012 release stars Kate Beckinsale, India Eisley and Michael Ealy. Beckinsale returns as the vampire warrioress Selene, who escapes imprisonment to find herself in a world where humans have discovered the existence of both Vampire and Lycan clans, and are conducting an all-out war to eradicate both immortal species.

Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark poster

MTV has debuted this new poster for Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark, directed by Troy Nixey from a script by Guillermo del Toro and Matthew Robbins. Based on the 1973 TV movie, the story follows Sally, a young girl who moves to Rhode Island to live with her father and his new girlfriend in the 19th-century mansion they are restoring. While exploring the house, Sally starts to hear voices coming from creatures in the basement whose hidden agenda is to claim her as one of their own.

David Goyer to write Godzilla screenplay

Deadline has news that David Goyer will write the screenplay for Legendary Pictures’ Godzilla from a draft by David Callaham. Gareth Edwards will direct the Warner Bros. Pictures release, to be produced by Thomas Tull and Jon Jashni.

Walking Dead Season Two preview on July 17th

On Sunday, July 17th, during the premiere of season four of “Breaking Bad,” AMC is sneaking a first-look video from the upcoming season of “The Walking Dead.” Season one of “The Walking Dead” premiered in October 2010 and became the most watched drama series in basic cable history among Adults 18-49.* “The Walking Dead” tells the story of the months and years that follow after a zombie apocalypse. Season four of “Breaking Bad” premieres Sunday, July 17 at 10pm ET/PT.

Dead Alive Blu-Ray news

Lionsgate will release Dead Alive on Blu-ray Disc October 4th. The early film from Oscar winning director Peter Jackson is celebrating it’s 20th anniversary.   A mama’s boy who has the unfortunate task of looking after his aging, evil mother, Lionel (Timothy Balme, Jack Brown Genius) believes his dreams have come true when he meets the love of his life.  While out to sabotage her son’s happiness, his Mum (Elizabeth Moody, The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring) is accidently bitten by a Sumatran rat-monkey, which turns her into a flesh-eating zombie.  Lionel is forced to put his relationship on hold to stop his undead mother, and the rest of the town that she’s infected before it’s too late.

Dimension Films acquires Livid

Dimension Films has acquired French language horror film Livid directed by Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo from SND (Groupe M6). The film stars Marie-Claude Pietragalla, Chloe Coulloud and Felix Moati and marks the second collaboration with Dimension Films and duo Maury and Bustillo, who previously directed Inside. The announcement was made today by Bob Weinstein, co-chairman of The Weinstein Company (TWC). Livid is a horror fairytale set during Halloween night when three youths decide to burglarize an old lady’s desolate house, but what awaits them is no ordinary house… “We are thrilled to be back in business with Julien and Alex and couldn’t be more excited to help bring their frightening vision to fans everywhere,” said Bob Weinstein. “It’s a pleasure to collaborate with such a great partner on the ‘Livid’ adventure. Dimension is the perfect fit,” declared Lionel Uzan, Director of Acquisitions and Sales of SND. Livid is produced by Vérane Frédiani and Frank Ribière (La Fabrique 2) and coproduced by SND, Plug FX and La Ferme.

Evil Dead 4 in the works

According to Bruce Campbell’s official website,, Bruce officially joined Twitter over the weekend (follow @GroovyBruce). On his Twitter site Bruce was questioned by a fan who stated, “I won’t believe in a new Evil Dead film until I see it. Or at least not until @GroovyBruce tells me to believe in it,” to which Campbell responded, “Believe in the remake, dawg! The project is real. In the works. Cool as hell. Scary as hell.” More as it comes. Sam Raimi has enlisted Federico Alvarez to helm the redo. The fledgling director signed with Raimi in 2009 after Alvarez’s short film, Panic Attack, garnered Hollywood’s attention.
