Outcast’s Madeline McGraw to Get Expanded Role

Deadline is reporting that Madeline McGraw, who played Ambers Barnes in Season 1 of Robert Kirkman’s Outcast, will not only return for Season 2 but in a much larger role.

Amber Barnes, the daughter of series lead Kyle Barnes, was seen in a smaller, recurring role throughout the first season; it wasn’t until the season finale that it was revealed just how important to the story she may become.

Outcast, which marks the third television series for Robert Kirkman (The Walking Dead & Fear the Walking Dead) follows the journey of Kyle Barnes, a man who has been plagued by demonic possession his whole life. While trying to find answers to his dilemma he uncovers something far worse. read more

CryptTV and Inkhouse Teaming Up to Launch New Initiative

Exciting news for aspiring horror writers as CryptTV, the video company fronted by Eli Roth and Blumhouse Productions, is partnering with crowd-sourcing platform Inkshares to launch a collection of horror books under the CryptTV brand.

As a part of this partnership, CryptTV is running a contest through Inkshares where the top three horror stories will automatically be published by Inkshares; then CryptTV will choose one of those to brand under their CryptTV name. According to news source Deadspin, the contest will end on October 31st with the winners being announced on November 4th. read more

The Chilling Adventure of Sabrina-Trade Review

Welcome to the darker side of Archie comics. “The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina” trade paperback, which includes issues 1-5, offers up a way for comic fans to catch up of they have not been following along already.  I must admit, I was a bit skeptical and hesitant to try the series at first, but was urged by fellow Horror News Network staff to do so. When I think of Archie comics I think of their classic cartoonish style, Jughead, and Veronica.  This horror comics fan was not sure it would appeal to me, however given their foray into the horror genre with “Afterlife with Archie“ in 2014, I was prompted to give this book a try. read more

American Horror Story to Frighten Fans at Halloween Horror Nights

Attendees visiting “Halloween Horror Nights” at Universal Orlando Resort and Universal Studios Hollywood will be treated to scares American Horror Story-style beginning Friday, September 16th.

Three seasons of Ryan Murphy’s horror anthology, American Horror Story, will be turned into terrifying mazes: Murder House (Season One), Freak Show (Season Four), and Hotel (Season 5). Scenes and settings from each season will be featured in the haunt which includes being hunted by demented serial killer “Twisty the Clown.” read more

We’ve Seen the New Pennywise…and IT’s Terrifying!

Entertainment Weekly has posted the first, full-costumed image of Pennywise the Clown from the upcoming adaptation of Stephen King’s It and we have one word to describe it: terrifying!

This time around, Pennywise will be played by Hemlock Grove star Bill Skarsgård. Skarsgård is well aware of the big shoes (pun intended) that he has to fill while stepping into the role originally played by Tim Curry; as he told Entertainment Weekly back in July, “Tim Curry’s performance was truly great, but it’s important for me to do something different because of that,” says Skårsgard, “I’ll never be able to make a Tim Curry performance as good as Tim Curry.” read more

Killing Floor 2 Could be a Gorehounds Dream

Georgia-based game developer, Tripwire Interactive has announced that the follow-up to their 2009 hit Killing Floor will be coming to PC and PS2 systems on November 18, 2016.

The backdrop of Killing Floor 2 picks up just a month after the original game concluded. This time though, all hope seems lost as the military is nowhere to be found and civilization is in ruin. It is up to the player to eradicate the monsters and help humanity regain control of Europe.

Sarah Paulson Returns for American Horror Story Season 6

At the Critics Association’s summer press tour this week, Emmy Award winning actress Sarah Paulson confirmed she will be returning for the upcoming season of “American Horror Story.” Paulson has been with the show since the first season and has managed to mesmerize the audience every season slipping into vastly different characters. She recently told Glamour Magazine “I’m not going back to a show, putting on the same outfit that I’ve worn for the last six years…it’s like being reborn every season. From an acting standpoint, nothing can touch that.” read more

Savage New Red Band Trailer for Don’t Breathe Released

Don’t you ever judge a book by its cover, or for that matter judge a blind man an easy mark for three teen thugs! “Don’t Breathe,” which barrels into theaters August 26th, appears to teach you crazy kids a thing or two before you decide to invade someone’s home.

The film, stars Jane Levy, Dylan Minnette, and Daniel Zovatto as the crew who suffers quite the punishment at the hands of their victim played by Stephen Lang. Lang, a veteran actor who has appeared in “Avatar,” “Tombstone,” and more recently as the sadistic Increase Mather in “Salem,” looks as menacing as any horror antihero we have seen in recent years.   Add this with the direction of Fede Alvaraz, best known for his direction of the “Evil Dead,” remake and you have a trailer which can only be described as twisted.  Have a peek below. read more

Dead Rising Claws Out of the Grave in September

Three Dead Rising games (Dead Rising, Dead Rising 2 and Dead Rising 2: Off the Record) will be available for digital download on XBox One and PS4 on September 13th. The release is in conjunction with the 10th Anniversary of the game, which was released on August of 2006.

The zombie killing franchise is considered one of the most successful in the horror genre. Dead Rising 3, the latest edition of the game, has already sold over 2 million copies.

Capcom has announced that all three titles will allow the characters to use the previously released DLC costumes. In addition, the game will now be able to be played at 60fps (frames per second), which is an upgrade from 30fps in the past games. read more

Soundtrack for Netflix’s Stranger Things Gets a Release Date

The eagerly awaited soundtrack for the smash-hit Netflix series, Stranger Things, has been announced and will be released in two parts by Lakeshore Records; Volume One on August 12th digitally and September 16th on CD and then Volume 2 on August 19th digitally and September 23rd on CD.

The popular show’s score is the brainchild of Kyle Dixon and Michael Stein, both members of the Austin, Texas synth band S U R V I V E. According to the press release, the directors of Stranger Things were fans of the band and reached out to see if they were available to score their show. Of the show’s unique score, Michael Stein said, “We discussed having a classic tone and feel to the music for the show but being reserved enough that it wasn’t ’80s cheese, while offering a refreshing quality so that felt modern.” read more
